The National Union of Private Schools (NUPS) in a press release on Tuesday 1st June 2021, expressed dissatisfaction at the continuous attacked on their National Chairman Rev. Victor O.M. Davies by Dr. Brian Conton when it comes to issues of the Union (NUPS) taking stance on matters of complaints.
The release maintained that on a recent WhatsApp message on the Association of Independent Schools (A.I.S) group, Dr. Conton addressed the stance of his Association by attacking the personality of Rev. Davies.
“As a union we are not against AIS stance but referring to NUPS Chairman as “Seeking cheap popularity with a stance that ruins education” is a derogatory statement therefore NUPS called on Dr. Conton to tender a public apology to our Chairman,” the release stated.
NUPS disclosed that under the leadership of Rev, Davies they have achieved many things that all private schools are enjoying today.
The release cited some of the achievements which ranged from the none payment of National Primary School Examination (NPSE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) fees.
Approval of schools that were not taking public exams.
Restoration of BECE and WASSCE code to schools that were eliminated from taking public exam.
The involvement of provincial private schools into National and Private Schools issues. Continuous professional development training for heads of private schools and teachers in private schools. And the engagement of educational stakeholders among others.
The release emphasized that NUPS believed in collective work for the growth and development of the children and quality education for all.
