Today July 23rd 2020, Dr. Richard Konteh visited victims of gunshots at the Makeni Government Regional Hospital. The victims included Wara Kanu who sustained injuries on both legs, Mohamed Fornah who was shot in the leg, Daniel Kargbo who was shot in the arm, and a 22 year old Alusine Sesay who sustained head injury and was referred to the Connaught Hospital in Freetown yesterday 22nd July 2020.
Explaining their ordeals to Dr. Richard Konteh and team, Wara Kanu who sustained injuries on both legs, narrated that she came from Kayrayfay Themne village with some locally processed cassava “tho” to sell when she got shot on the legs. She is a suckling mother that is now hospitalized without her young child.
Mohamed Fornah was shot on his left leg at his residence along Old Mabanta Road, Makeni. MOHAMED is Chiarman of the NP Ataya Base who was on his veranda with Wara KANU when they were shot by the security forces using live bullets.
Daniel Kargbo was shot on the right hand while grinding groundnuts in the market for his dear mother in order to eke a living.
Alusine Sesay sustained gunshot injury on his head and had to be rushed to Freetown yesterday in a very critical state. We join family and well wishers in praying for his recovery.
In a mood best described as solemn after listening to the narrations, Dr. Richard Konteh provided each victim with some money to take care of their medications. He left off with a promise to keep checking on the conditions of the victims for any further assistance.
All three hospitalized victims will be referred to Freetown tomorrow for more advanced medical attention because the bullets in their bodies are yet to be removed.
Dr. Konteh will be visiting the homes of the deceased victims tomorrow to sympathize with the bereaved families.
