By way of mitigating illegal dumping of waste in public places including highways, the Western Rural District Council has on Tuesday 2nd November, 2020 issued a stern warning to residents, trader and community members at Jui and its surroundings to refrain from unhealthy dumping waste at the wrong locations.
The warning emerged following series of notifications drawn to the attention of the district management of WARDC, about illicit dumping of wastes in public places and on the Jui highway.
In a public notice issued from WARDC’s Information, Education and Communication Unit, on 2nd November, 2020, the council strongly warned against illegal dumping of waste almost everywhere with Jui highway and its surrounding communities of no exception.
Council however frowned at the lawless behaviours of certain people who are in the habits of exposing the environment to hazards, through the dumping of wastes everywhere in the community, and will therefore punish such defaulters within the framework of the laws.
Waste management has always been a serious issue and concern for highly populated municipality communities including WARDC, Freetown City Council as well as in provincial and district headquarter towns and councils.
