As SLPP MP Implicated in Land Grabbing …Woman cries foul

By Musa Kamara

Based on claims made by Hawa Jabbie Bah (Mrs.), as interviewed by Forum, she admitted that her legally-owned property (a piece of land), situated along Bai Bureh Road-New Road, Brima Lane Community, has been grabbed by the honourable Member of Parliament- Emmanuel Sahr Gbeke of the same community, Constituency 116, in eastern Freetown.

She made such disclosure on Wednesday 28th April 2021on the grounds that she has been suffering in silence and could not bear it anymore, especially after claiming that she and her brother have been physically assaulted by thugs believed to have been followers of Hon. Gbeke.

Madam Bah explained that the land in question has been her family property which was bought way back during the presidential tenure of late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, Vice President Berewa and Bobson Sesay- then Minister of Lands (all of blessed memory).

She expressed that her confrontation with the MP started when he went ahead with a “Youth Car Wash Project,” on the piece of land, without proper consultation with the community, and only bulldozing his way in the name of establishment a government project for youth.

According to Madam Bah, she said that Hon. Gbeke claimed to have been provided with the piece of land by President Bio, and she went on to say the MP bluffed that he will fixed a meeting with her and President Bio, so that she can be provided with another piece of land.

She informed to have brought such “undue advantage” to the attention of the Ministry of Youth, but nothing has come out of it, and she assured that she will never let go of that place and she vowed to put down whatever structure erected on that piece of land.

“Even if he puts up a building ten times, I will bring it down ten times,” she vowed.

Madam Bah claimed that the MP has threatened that he will ensure that she is raped by his thugs, and whereby, she noted to have report such rape threat to the police.

As it stands now, she admitted to be in very serious pain and has incurred some fracture on one of her foot due to her claim of being pushed in a gutter by the honourable Member of Parliament, and she could barley move now with that particular foot

“I have brought such complain to the police and some SLPP hierarchy,” she added.

She admitted that the former Minister of Lands- Dennis Sandy halted the construction of the car wash project, but however the MP went ahead with the project.

As of recent, she said that her brother- a military personnel, has been severely beaten and he sustained serious injuries and to the effect, went into coma and he is presently admitted at the 34 Military Hospital.

She stated that as of yesterday 28th April 2021, all aggrieved parties including Hon. Gbeke and one other, were summoned by Turad Senessie- Minister of Lands, but he did not show up.

Interestingly, Madam Hawa Jabbie Bah happened to be the Chairlady for the ruling SLPP at Kaningo and Juba Community, and she claimed to have trigger huge votes for President Bio at that locality.

On the other hand, Hon. Gbeke said that the Car Wash Project is an initiative of President Bio and the piece of land in question belongs to the Government of Sierra Leone, and he claimed that Madam Bah has been systematically bringing down the erected structure as promised.
